DAIRYLAND - After two years, a ground breaking ceremony took place for veterans across the northland on Saturday.
The Dairyland Outdoor Veterans Retreat started its first phase of their construction project.
The phase will bring RV parking and camping to the community.
Then they plan to build cabins for veterans and their families to enjoy.
Finally, the third phase will include a lodge that will allow the community to meet inside conference rooms.
Board members say it is rewarding for those who fight for their lives.
“I think anyone that you ask to give his all deserves whatever we can give back and I think I speak for our board when I say that,” said Ron Deyo, the chairman of the Dairyland Outdoor Veteran Retreat.
The concept was conceived in 20-10 with another goal to bring jobs to the small town.
