SUPERIOR - The long awaited and highly anticipated renovation of the Twin Ports VA Clinic officially kicked off.
Crews will be inside cleaning up and doing electrical work.
The more than two million dollar renovation will include new utilities, walls, flooring and plumbing.
Examination, group and education rooms will be added and they're also doubling the number of specialty care rooms.
Officials say the facility will not be expanded physically, but what they offer to veterans will.
"We look forward to offering veterans in northwest Wisconsin and northeast Minnesota services that they deserve,” VA Public Affairs Officer Ralph Huessner said. The renovation of the clinic will help us meet the needs, be able to offer new services and look forward to continuing our commitment to serve veterans."
Huessner says although there will be some disturbances the clinic will still provide medical services.
The makeover will take about a year to complete.
