DULUTH - You can soon you can walk a mile to raise money for a nonprofit supporting people with disabilities.
The 6th annual Walk a Mile fundraiser kicked off Wednesday.
You can exercise indoors or take a stroll downtown to raise money for Udac's STEPS Fitness Center which provides specialized exercising equipment for people who are aging, have disabilities or difficulties working out.
"It's a setting where people feel comfortable, they don't feel judged," STEPS Fitness Center Fitness Coordinator Dana Mattila-Swor said. "Oftentimes when we have physical challenges or cognitive challenges you go somewhere and you feel like people are looking at you."
The fitness center is hoping to raise $25,000.
The fundraiser officially starts Feb. 6.
