DULUTH - A retaining wall came crashing down on a busy Duluth road Monday, but the reason is up in the air.
Outside the newly–built McDonalds on 21st Avenue East and London road, a huge section -- along with a light pole -- fell onto the sidewalk and the right–turning lane of London Road.
A McDonalds corporate official told FOX 21 Monday the mess was all planned weeks ago for "cosmetic" reasons.
However, the city of Duluth told FOX 21 that McDonald's had been in contact with the city's engineering department about structural issues with the wall before this event unfolded.
No one was injured.
