SUPERIOR - Over a million people cast their vote in the recall general election.
"He needs to be recalled," said Kathleen Falk supporter Leanne Glaeser.
"I think the Democrats are a bunch of spoil sports that were winning," Walker supporter Judy Pearson said.
The people of Wisconsin picked Milwaukee’s Mayor Tom Barrett to go up against Governor Scott Walker in the recall election.
"We need to bring a balanced government back to Wisconsin,” Barrett supporter Lori Flynn said. Somebody that's truly gonna look at what's in the best interest of making our state great."
Walker supporters also showed up last night casting over 600,000 votes.
“Stop the taxing and stop the spending and figure out another way to balance our budget, and he's trying," said Pearson.
City officials say it was the largest partisan primary since the ‘50’s, equaling over a 30% turnout statewide.
"People are passionate about this recall election on both sides,” Superior City Clerk Terri Kalan said. So we really see that in the voter activity."
Last night Governor Scott Walker and Tom Barrett spoke of a promising future for Wisconsin.
"It's time that we set the example in this state," Democratic Gubernatorial Mayor Tom Barrett said.
"We're getting started putting people back to work," Governor Scott Walker said.
The next day the gloves came off.
"If people want to Milwaukee-nize Wisconsin, I think that's what they'll get under Tom Barrett," said Walker.
"Of course he's attacking my record because he knows he cannot defend his record,” said Barrett.
Barrett now saying he wants to debate Walker on the issue of jobs four times before the recall election.
“Instead of staying home in Wisconsin and focusing on creating jobs here, he has decided he is going to be a rock star," said Barrett.
Walker fired back and agreed to two statewide televised debates.
Walker issued a statement: “He looks forward to the robust debates and contrasting his record of success that has laid the foundation for a successful future against the failed policies of Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett that would take the state backward.”
Barrett defeated Dane county executive Kathleen Falk, secretary of state Doug La Follette and State Senator Kathleen Vinehout.
The recall election is scheduled for June 5th.
