-- New information shows that drinking under age can be a deadly mix.Mothers Against Drunk Driving, or "MADD," usually heads-up campaigns against drunken driving, but when it comes to drinking under age, they say traffic accidents are just part of the danger.
For years MADD has warned against the danger of drunk driving, but the organization says a study of data from multiple sources -- including the FBI and the CDC -- has them pushing to expand their message - and peoples' view - on the dangers of underage drinking in general.
MADD says the bulk of underage drinking deaths breaks down like this:30 percent are homicides; suicides account for 14 percent; alcohol poisoning accounts for 9 percent; and 15 percent from other causes such as drowning, fires or falls.
MADD is also pressing parents to stress to their teens not to drink at all until they are the legal age of 21.
Madd believes that age is when young people are better equipped to make decisions about consuming alcohol.
