Father & son design digital infrared trail camera

SAXON, Wis. - It’s a hunter's eye in the woods.  A father and son from Saxon have designed a digital infrared trail camera equipped with new technology.

As serious hunters scout the woods in search of that trophy buck, a valuable tool can help get the job done.  "The camera is your eyes in the woods, it's out there 24/7," said Perry Elsemore.  Father and son and avid hunters Perry and Kyle Elsemore of Saxon started Predator Trailcams in 2007 and designed their 1st digital infrared game camera.  "My son just graduated from college and we just figured it was time to do something," said Elsemore.  "We saw a niche, an opening in the market and we figured that we would take advantage of it."

The unit has a large color touch screen with USB storage.  "These cameras will cover anything from turkey hunting to bear hunting to just about anything."  With both still and video options.  "The video is really nice because the video actually tells a story; how the deer is reacting, how deer react to each other and how they are reacting to you in the woods," said Elsemore.  The game camera is also equipped with a true infrared lighting system so when activated by motion and heat, there is no visible light.  "When the infrared comes on at night, you can't see the big red glowing effect like a brake light effect from a car, it's a true infrared," said Elsemore.

It's a wildlife surveillance device Elsmore says gives hunters a big advantage.  "You save a lot of time, you save a lot of money traveling back and forth and you want to stay out of the woods as much as possible so they tell you a lot of things, you can actually read the woods with that camera."  It’s a game camera designed with hunters in mind.  "If you are going to be a player in any part of the hunting industry, you have to be a hunter, you have to be," said Elsemore.

Elsemore has hunted for 34 years; it's a big part of his life.  "I just like being out in the woods, you don't have to take an animal every time you are in the woods, it's just peace of mind and we are kind of fortunate the area that we live in," said Elsemore.  "We can go out and walk out our back door and we can enjoy that."

Next year Predator Trailcams will add four new game cameras.  For more information, log onto their website at www.predatortrailcams.com
