DULUTH - It's been two days of major victories for the city of Duluth. First, the Last Place on Earth verdict, and now – on Tuesday – a break in the Fond-du-Luth Casino battle.
DULUTH - Duluth city leaders say the thousands of hours of investigations have paid off after as a jury reached a guilty verdict Monday in the federal trial against Last Place on Earth owner Jim Carlson. After three days of deliberations, the jury found sufficient evidence to convict Carlson. FOX 21's Dan Hanger was in Minneapolis for reaction from one of Carlson's attorneys after the verdict was reached.
DULUTH - Beginning immediately, the Lake Superior Zoo extends a special discount to US Government employees who are furloughed. This discount will remain in effect until the government re-opens for business.

WASHINGTON - A police officer is reported hurt after gunfire today at the U.S. Capitol building.The Senate's Sergeant at Arms, Terrance Gainer, says, ''There are reports of injuries.'' FBI agents headed to the scene.
