BAYFIELD - Dozens of teams took part in day one of the Apostle Islands Sled Dog Race on Saturday.

The annual event features races of four different lengths, allowing mushers with a wide range of skill levels the chance to compete.

The races start at the Echo Valley Gravel Pit, off Wisconsin Highway 13 about 10 miles northwest of Bayfield. They'll start again at 10 a.m. Sunday; more information and maps are available here.
