DULUTH - After two years of construction, the lights are shining bright on the Blatnik Bridge.
The bridge plays a prominent role in the Twin Ports' skyline.
Energy saving LED lights now light the bridge connecting Superior and Duluth.
City leaders said the new lights will cost 58 percent less than with the old ones.
"This bridge will last a lot longer in its useful life because we made really careful repairs,” explained MnDOT commissioner Charlie Zelle. “It's really iconic; it's one of the great bridges we have.”
Within the next few weeks, the yellow street lights next to the LED's will be replaced to match.
