CHISHOLM - A historic train in Chisholm is now back on the tracks.
The locomotive was the first exhibit brought to the museum of mining 60 years ago.
But over the years the muddy ground started to sink the historic icon nearly 20 inches into the ground.
Crews have treated the soil and now the train is on solid ground.
"It's excellent,” Minnesota Museum of Mining Board Member Terry Nosan said. “Right now we could breathe a little easier because we knew that we're not gonna have a damaged machine. It's gonna stay there for many years the way it is right now it won't digress anymore into a problem."
The museum will open up Memorial Day.
Officials say they are also looking into making certain areas more handicap accessible.
