DULUTH - It turns out the Duluth City Council did not follow the rules when it comes to Rank Choice Voting in the case of filling a former councilor's seat.
If they followed voting regulations, it should have been a tie between Joel Sipress and Kathy Heltzer.
According to Fair Vote Minnesota, the correct way to decide between the tie vote was a simple coin toss.
"I commend all of us for saying we have made a mistake and we have a chance to fix it," said council president Linda Krug.
Krug is looking to call a special council meeting sometime next week to decide if the vote should be reconsidered.
