DULUTH - Thursday, the Duluth City Council came one step closer to hiring an attorney to keep officer Richard Jouppi out of the Duluth Police Department.
Jouppi was on trial after he was accused of assaulting a man in a wheelchair, but a jury found him not guilty.
On Monday, the city council will vote to spend $50,000 on an attorney to represent the city of Duluth.
Police Chief Gordon Ramsay has publicly said he will do everything in his power to keep Jouppi off the force.
The Duluth Police Union has confirmed they are representing Jouppi during the grievance process.
