DULUTH - The Duluth City Council is cracking down on pet owners who don't keep Fido licensed and vaccinated.
At Monday's city council meeting, councilor passed a new ordinance that could slap a hefty fine if your dog, for example, goes missing and ends up in the city's animal shelter.
To get the animal back, it will need to be spayed or neutered, licensed and vaccinated, and if you refuse, you'll have to fork up $350.
The ordinance passed 6 to 3, with some councilors not agreeing with the city's demand that all animals be spayed and neutered.
All fees collected through this new ordinance will go back directly into the animal shelter.
