DULUTH - Students interested in the Duluth Youth City Council are going to have to wait until Fall 2014.
A meeting Monday night showed the students simply need more time to organize details before submitting an ordinance to city council.
The council will look at the ordinance this winter and applications for the youth council will start being accepted spring 2014.
An interview process will take place after applications, and the council will make their debut the following fall.
The goal of the council is to give a legitimate voice to the Duluth Youth.
They will have no legitimate vote when it comes to city legislation, but the group hopes the city looks to the youth for advice in issues that affect them.
City council members and Mayor Don Ness have voiced their support for the youth council.
They hope it launches a mentorship between the youth interested in government and legislation.
The next step for the group is to schedule a meeting with the city clerk's office to draft the ordinance.
