DULUTH - People across the country, including Duluthians, celebrated everything dog Tuesday.
Dozens of dog lovers were at the West Duluth Dog Park soaking up the sun as part of National Dog Day.
The day is also a chance to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year.
Liberty Cronin, a vet tech who lives in Duluth, rescued both of her dogs and says they're like members of her family.
"Mine are my kids, so they're definitely family members. Mine go everywhere with me, usually to work with me, obviously, and pretty much anywhere I go," she said.
Six to eight million dogs and cats are placed in shelters every year, and about three to four million are euthanized.
