DULUTH - A local group is encouraging Duluthians to get out and see more of the city while staying active.
The second annual Mayor's Bike Ride got underway Friday at Duluth City Hall.
Dozens of bikers strapped on their helmets and hit the pavement to help raise awareness for alternative forms of transportation.
"We want to see a strong, vibrant community with healthy people actively participating out and about on bikes on trails just being healthy," said Lisa Luokkala from the Healthy Duluth Area Coalition.
For those who plan to hit the roads this summer, the coalition will also hold a biking safety class.
