VIRGINIA - On 4/19/2013, members of the Boundary Waters Drug Task Force
conducted a methamphetamine saturation in the Virginia and Eveleth areas. This saturation was to target drug related
offenses through increased traffic enforcement.
This methamphetamine saturation was funded and organized by
the Northeast Law Enforcement
Administrators Council (NLEAC).
All Agencies that participated are
current members of NLEAC.
The agencies that participated in the methamphetamine
saturation were the Hibbing Police Department, Chisholm Police Department,
Virginia Police Department, Eveleth Police Department, Gilbert Police
Department, Babbitt Police Department, Nashwauk Police Department, St. Louis
County Sheriff’s Office, and the Boundary Waters Drug Task Force.
During the methamphetamine saturation, 60 traffic stops were
conducted within a six hour period.
Through the course of this heightened traffic enforcement event, there
were a number of arrests and citations for drug related offenses.
Two vehicles were towed due to drug arrests
and are subject to forfeiture.
A total of 10 individuals were taken into custody and charges are pending.
All cases related to this
saturation remain open for further investigation.
