DULUTH - It may be a pretty bumpy ride for Northland motorists this spring, at least if you ask Mayor Don Ness. The rain and snow followed by a bitter cold has created the perfect storm for potholes.
All the water that has moved into cracks and crevices on the roads surface is now unthawing causing the streets to expand and move up and down.
Officials say plans are already in the works to fill the cracks.
"Our crews are doing everything that they can to address this problem,” Duluth Mayor Don Ness said. “As soon as the hot mix comes out in May we're gonna get out there and fill them as quickly as we can."
You can report pot holes by calling the cities maintenance division at (218) 730-4490.
