DULUTH - Two-hundred people turned out Saturday morning to “Run Like an Animal” for the Lake Superior Zoo.
Many people dressed the part, fitting for running a 5k through the zoo, and a familiar face won the race.
“It’s a good race when you finish first, but this is a great race in general, the zoo’s a wonderful asset to our community, and this race every year, has grown a little bit. And all the money goes to support the zoo. And especially after last year, who wouldn’t want to spend a great morning at the zoo and help it move forward after the flood,” Sen. Roger Reinert, won first place in the Men’s Division.
“I’m actually in training for next year’s Grandma’s marathon and so this summer I’ve decided to do a few 5K’s. And I just heard about this on the KQ morning show yesterday, and I thought, well, that would be fun!” Patrick Sirois, a Duluth resident who won the Best Costume Prize, said.
All money raised from today’s event will benefit the zoo, and the event was made possible by Tortoise and Hare Footwear and Anytime Fitness.
