CARLTON, Minn. - A semi-conscious black bear was spotted Wednesday afternoon around noon at Jay Cooke State Park that created alarm for workers there.
Not knowing how sick the bear was, park
rangers called Wildwoods Rehabilitation in Duluth for help.
Three volunteers safely drove the 162-pound
bear all the way to Garrison, Minn., to get checked out by doctors at the Wild
and Free center that cares for big animals.
Officials with Wildwoods tell FOX 21 the bear
is relaxing with care after getting some blood work done to find out what
exactly was making him so weak.
There was no immediate word Wednesday on results from those blood tests.
