DULUTH - Students from the Twin Cities are working on rehabbing underutilized and abandoned areas in Duluth.Students from the University of Minnesota presented their Design Duluth projects to business leaders.
Design concepts include using dredging material to create islands on the St. Louis River, installing huts that integrate Duluth’s history on trails and expanding the park and trail system in west Duluth.
"It's one of those projects that we started we didn't know what was gonna happen,” University of Minnesota adjunct Professor Jamuna Golden said. “Because people in Duluth were so excited and really engaged that it's grown into something a lot larger."
Project officials say they are hoping to share the architectural designs to get community members interested and involved.
