SUPERIOR - Within 20 years after it was built to honor Civil War Veterans, the Grand Army of the Republic Arch was taken down. But Mayor Bruce Hagen wants to change that.Hagen is on a mission to bring it back and make it a focal point on Broadway and Tower Avenue.
"I am passionate about this,” said Hagen. “I wanna see it, I wanna touch it, I wanna recognize it, I wanna promote it as the image and the icon for Superior."
Mayor Hagen hopes to have the arch reconstructed and in place by fall of 2014.
The city council approved roughly $40,000 in funding Tuesday to start work on four platforms for project.
