DULUTH – UMD paid tribute to some of their most successful alumni Friday.
For the first time, the school honored distinguished alumni from the College of Education and Human Service Professions.
Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon was one of four to be recognized.
Department officials said she was picked because of her local and statewide success.
"It's a bit overwhelming. I am feeling just so tremendously honored,” she said. “Such a privilege to sit here and receive this."
Prettner Solon got her B.A. in social development with a double major in social development and psychology.
She also has a Masters in educational psychology.
