DULUTH - A University of Minnesota-Duluth student is hoping his new app turns into the next social media craze.
It's called "turf" and the goal is to connect with people on the same "turf" as you.
You can post about events happening on your turf and everyone can see it.
UMD, local high schools, and the city of Duluth are all considered turfs.
"It's just a way to socialize the people around you,” explained the app’s creator, Colton Sinning. "Instead of Facebook and Twitter where you add friends and follow people; on this instead, you belong to different turfs or locations."
You can download the app for free.
Currently, it's only available for iPhones, but is expected to expand to Android users soon.
