CLOQUET - There's a moratorium over the city of Cloquet that involves synthetic drugs.
The city council recently passed an ordinance that does not allow the sale of synthetic drugs in the city for a period of a year while police and other city officials study the best possible way to legally deal with the sale and use of synthetics in Cloquet.
The city says Last Place on Earth owner Jim Carlson and his quest to possibly open up in another city got Cloquet's city attorney more concerned.
"From the city's standpoint, obviously some of the articles in the paper and things we've been hearing did raise some concerns regarding the possibilities of what was happening in Duluth, so we wanted to just make sure depending on where that situation played itself out that we were able to protect the community," said Brian Fritsinger, the city's administrator.
Like many other Northland cities, Cloquet's police department has been dealing with a growing trend oif synthetic-related issues.
