DULUTH - The good news became official Thursday for Duluth's seaway port.
The U.S. Department of Transportation formally announced a $10 million transportation investment generating economic recovery grant.
Duluth's port is now one of 30 ports in the past 5 years the federal government has funded totaling $410 million.
The grant is set up to help the entire region, but the funding can do so much more.
"Greater access for local business reduced shipping costs and buster economic competiveness. All in which promote one of the president's highest priorities, and that's job growth," Paul N. Jaenichen, Sr. said.
The hope is the federal investment is used to overall keep the U.S. competitive in the world market.
