VIRGINIA - One of three Iron Range men facing charges for a racially motivated assault got his sentence Tuesday. Thirty-four year old Gerald Meagher of Virginia will have to serve two years of probation for committing fourth degree assault.
If he fails to complete the probation he will have to spend one year in the Saint Louis County Jail.
Twenty-three year old Lee Randall of Aurora and 23–year–old Chad Stevens of Mountain Iron were also charged for the crime and both pleaded guilty to fourth degree assault Tuesday.
They'll be sentenced in early March.
The criminal complaint says the men verbally harassed a Virginia couple by shouting the n–word numerous times before physically assaulting them.
