SUPERIOR - Runners gathered at Pattison Park in Superior for the Burrito Union 5 and 10 hour triathlon, and the four course options were named after the restaurant’s burritos.
“To work on fitness. To get out and work on the body. That’s what we are meant to do, and we are a sedentary society. Diabetes is on the rise, it’s a problem, we all know it. So, we need to get moving again. We need to get out, triathlon is just a fun, fun way to get competitive and feel youthful again,” a Tiffany Kari, a health promotions employee of St. Louis County, said.
“This is the most unique triathlon. It’s the only one in the world that’s run this way. We run it for 10 hours straight. We do it over and over for 10 years. It’s the uniqueness of that,” Tom Champaigne, a repeat triathlon participant, said.
The triathlon is in its 7th year.
