IRON RIVER - Police have identified the man who died after colliding with a tree on his snowmobile on Friday night.

According to the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office, it happened around midnight at the intersection of Fire Tower Road and Forest Road in Iron River.

Police said Ryan Maly, 22, from Bryant, Wisconsin died after life saving techniques were attempted.

He had severe traumatic injuries.

He was snowmobiling with three other friends and was second in line when he passed his friend in front of him.

While he was turning the corner, police said he hit a tree with his snowmobile. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
