MADELINE ISLAND - Authorities have identified the two men killed after their snowmobile went through the ice near Madeline Island. Thirty year old Joshua Reynolds and 38 year old Mark Backes, both of La Pointe, died in the accident Thursday.

Authorities say they were last seen leaving Bayfield around 9:30 Wednesday night and were reported missing 12 hours later.

Searchers found one man next to the partially submerged snowmobile.

The second man's body was found about three hours later.

The incident remains under investigation.
