DULUTH - Buffalo Wild Wings fans, rejoice. The popular Minnesota–based sports bar and restaurant chain will open its first Northland location in March.

The building is taking shape and the marquee is up. Though delayed two weeks because of frigid weather, Duluth's new Buffalo Wild Wings – located in a portion of the old Gander Mountain store on Miller Trunk Highway – is less than two months away from serving customers.

"Right now, we're slated for March 22," says general manager Chris Jonas. He's overseeing work on the restaurant, which will feature more than 40 flat screen TVs, an outdoor patio and seating for 273 people.

"We're quite a bit bigger than most Buffalo Wild Wings," he said.

There are still two-thirds of the old Gander Mountain store space available, and the realty company managing the property is still working to find tenants.

In the meantime, they're happy with getting such a popular venue in the previously empty space. Wild Wings is happy to be there, too.

"The company... has probably been looking at Duluth for a long time. And for us to come up here and be a part of something new to the territory is just going to be fantastic," Jonas said.

Jonas says they will look to hire about 130 people. They start taking applications next Monday.
