Ari Sommerfeld

TOFTE, Minn. - The widow of a North Shore drowning victim says she is numb and grief–stricken.

Ari Sommerfeld, 45, of Ramsey, Minnesota, died in the Temperance River on the Fourth of July.  In an e–mail to FOX 21, Martha Sommerfeld said her husband had swam in the same area many times before, but this time, the currents were too strong.

She described Ari as adventurous but careful, and a kind and caring man who helped her through a battle with cancer.

She warned people about the dangers of the temperance river, saying, "I lost my husband and best friend to it and hope no one will take the chance that Ari took ever again."
