Lake-effect snow advisories issued for parts of Northland

DULUTH - The National Weather Service has issued lake-effect snow advisories for Bayfield County, Wis., and Ontonagon County, Mich., through Friday morning.

The advisory for Bayfield County is in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday. Snowfall of 4 to 6 inches is possible, mainly for west- and north-facing shorelines and slopes north of a line from Port Wing to Bayfield. Some locally greater amounts are possible over the highest terrain northwest of Bayfield.

The advisory for Ontonagon County is in effect through 7 a.m. EST Friday. Snowfall of 1 to 7 inches is possible today, with another 1 to 8 inches tonight. The greatest snow totals will be over higher terrain north of M-38 and M-26.
