DULUTH, Minn. -

The local American Legion and Elks Lodge in Duluth held a benefit for veterans today.

People gathered at the Elks Lodge to honor veterans and raise a little money for them too.

All the money raised will go fund programs that help veterans.

Neill Atkins, the Event Organizer, said "Vets are always in need, and we want to keep alive the memories of veterans, those who have been with us in our organizations, and those who have sacrificed the most."

Some of the money will go into a scholarship fund in honor of world war two vet, Bernie Chisolm.

The other funds will go to a program that helps veterans receive household essentials.
