DULUTH, Minn. -

It was earlier this summer when the Duluth City Council voted to repeal a ban on selling alcohol in the Lakeside neighborhood.

That vote was the final step in a long process to remove a restriction that had been in place ever since the late 1800's.

Now, Amity Coffee is the first business to be granted a liquor license in Lakeside is almost ready to start serving.

Dane Gagnon, a Barista at Amity Coffee, said "I feel like we live in an age where things are changing and things that might not have been acceptable are now a days."

Amity Coffee plans to stay open for extended hours once alcohol sales start.

Having live late night music is also a goal for the future.

The owners are hoping having alcohol available will draw in a whole new type of crowd and help increase business.
