DULUTH, Minn. -

Around the middle of October is when many hardware stores start swapping out their fall inventories for wintertime tools.

Experts at Marshall Hardware in Duluth say it's a good idea to be prepared before you get snowed in.

Patty Sullivan, an employee at Marshal Hardware, said "Have a basic shovel so you can clear your sidewalk, clear your driveway, so you can get to work, school, and grocery store."

Along with shovels, they also suggest making sure your car has an ice scraper, and maybe even an emergency winter survival kit.
