Western Lake Superior Habitat for Humanity broke ground on its first new home construction project in 6 years Tuesday. The lot is located at 1001 north 7th street in Superior. Upon its completion, Theresa Dakota and her 3 grandchildren will move into the new home.

Habitat for Humanity hopes this is just the beginning of many projects to come in Superior.

WLSHFH Executive Director David Clanaugh says, "We are talking with various potential partners about how to move in the direction of 2 homes in 2017. We have really great support from other humanities affiliates across the state."

The home for Theresa and her grandchildren is expected to be complete by spring of 2017.
