Superior, Wis. -

This weekend Lake Superior will be the beautiful backdrop as Northlanders walk to raise awareness for substance abuse.

The Twin Ports Recovery Walk is taking place Saturday, September 24 on the Osaugie Trail at Bakers Island in Superior.

Registration starts at 9:00 a.m. and there will also be resource tables available for those struggling with substance abuse and their families.

The walk begins at 10:30 a.m.

The walk is free because the hope is to raise awareness for the issue and change the stigma of those struggling with substance abuse.

The walk is also celebrating those in recovery.

St. Louis County ranks second in the state for alcohol reported deaths and Arrowhead Regional Corrections ranks third for felony DWI's in Minnesota.
