DULUTH, Minn. -

Southbound Garfield Avenue will close at Nelson Street near the Goodwill store, Monday, August 29, and will remain closed until September 10.

All businesses in the Port terminal area will be accessible by using Helberg Drive. Detours will be posted.

The closure is needed to remove and replace the concrete pavement on Garfield Avenue. Northbound Garfield Avenue traffic coming form the Port Terminal will not be affected by this closure and will be able to travel north out of the port on Garfield Avenue.

This work is being done as part of the I-535 Blatnik Bridge repair project, which currently has both southbound lanes and one northbound lane closed. Southbound traffic is detoured to the Bong Bridge at this time.

The southbound I-35 on and off ramps at Highway 23, two miles south of Hinckley will close Tuesday August 30 for two weeks.

The closure is required for concrete paving on southbound I-35 and the Highway 23 ramps.
