DULUTH, Minn. -

The Duluth Transit Authorities (DTA) Grocery Express will provide service on Saturdays and Tuesdays to the West Duluth Super One beginning September 10, 2016. The Saturday Schedule will run from 10:06 a.m. to 1:37 p.m. This is in addition to the service on Tuesdays that runs from 11:16 a.m. to 3:57 p.m.

The Grocery Express route that begins in Lincoln Park will remain the same. The service, which features a bus stop located directly in front of the West Duluth Super One, will continue in the neighborhoods of Lincoln Park and Morgan Park, that have been identified as "food deserts" by the Fair Food Access Committee.

Service will continue to be provided to the communities along its route in West Duluth, Spirit Valley, Riverside, Norton Park, and Smithville.

The partnership between the Fair Food Access Committee, Super One, and the DTA continues to evolve based upon feedback obtained from the citizens of Duluth and DTA riders.

The DTA will soon introduce storage bins on all regular-route buses. Passengers boarding with groceries will be able to store their goods in these bins, which will be positioned near the front door.

The goal is to provide safe, convenient and affordable public transit service to neighborhood grocery stores thereby enabling citizens to purchase fresh produce and other healthy food options.
