With the Labor Day holiday weekend approaching, many tourist sites across the Northland are bracing for a busy few days.
Split Rock Lighthouse is a very popular spot for tourists looking to see the wonders of the North Shore.
The folks that work at the lighthouse every day say it has been a very busy tourist season so far.
And they’re ready for large crowds this weekend as well.
“We do tours every 20 minutes that leave from the visitor’s center,” said groundskeeper Lee Radzak. “[It’s a] busy place, a lot of fun, and the weather’s supposed to be good.”
Radzak also says that if you’re coming up the North Shore from out of town, it pays off to leave early and get there early as well.
“We open at 10am. It tends to be a little quieter until 1:00 and then it picks up in the afternoon.”
On Saturday Split Rock will host a book signing from the author of a children’s book based on the lighthouse.
Split Rock Lighthouse is open from 10am to 6pm every day.
