CARLTON, Minn. -

Hundreds of people came together to remember loved ones lost to suicide at the 8th Annual Carlton County Suicide Awareness Memorial Walk in Carlton.

The walk allows family and friends impacted by suicide to connect with others who have had similar experiences and bring awareness to the suicide epidemic in Northern Minnesota and nationwide.

"It's epidemic; any walk of life. So it's really important for us to get that education and awareness out there and help to the people and support to the people who have lost loved ones to suicide," says parent survivor of suicide, Joe Angell.

The event included the 35 minute walk, a remembrance service, and a message of hope from the director of a veteran's resource organization.

Officials also want to bring awareness to 24 hour suicide hotlines and the Minnesota txt4life program.
