DULUTH, Minn. -

Enbridge Energy Partners’ proposed Sandpiper pipeline project is being delayed for an indefinite amount of time.

Enbridge representatives say market condition changes and regulatory delays and changes to the approval process in Minnesota, as the reasons for the delay. Communities along the route of the pipeline may miss out on 3,000 high paying construction jobs associated with the project.

"The project had its opponent but it’s support was broad and deep. We have a majority of the counties that the route would have passed through actually pass resolutions in support of the project," said Paul Eberth, Sandpiper Project Manager at Enbridge.

Enbridge is still planning to work on getting the necessary permits for the Line 3 replacement project.
