Hermantown City Council held a public hearing to review the closure statement provided by a long standing mobile home park.
Residents of Williams drive mobile home park are being asked to leave their homes as the owner of the mobile home park has no other option but to shut it down
A notice was sent in July to dozens of residents stating that they had until May of 2017 to move off the property.
Kathy Eckstrom told the council tonight she's lived there for 28 years and raised her family there. She says moving is not that easy.
“It’s very hard, I don't want to break down but I hung my head and cried all day today, and i just love that area."
There is good news for residents being displaced,
The state of Minnesota has a statute in place for situations like this, allowing those who qualify receive relocation aid from a trust fund for reasonable relocation costs.
Kathy still isn’t buying it.
“I’m skeptical because it’s all so new we just had the meeting tonight, people make promises but i just will feel much better when i see something in writing."
The city council voted to place a mediator on this case for the best possible outcome for both sides.
