DULUTH, Minn. -

At 12:19 a.m. last night Duluth police responded to the 2000 West block of Superior Street on a report of a shooting.

A 47-year-old man was found there -- between 20th and 21st avenues -- with wounds from a gun shot. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Duluth police have two suspects under arrest for the shooting.

This was not a random act, according to police, as the suspects and victim knew each other.

As for late Tuesday, authorities had not released the names of the victims or suspects.

Meanwhile, friends of the victim believe the violence in their neighborhood in Lincoln Park needs to be stopped.

"Why is this going on? In my head this is senseless," said Tina Miller, the victim's friend.

Miller said the victim was a father and grandfather.

"It's not just the beef between each other. It's everybody that's involved that is affected," said Miller.

Miller added that the man had moved to Duluth to escape the violence of Chicago. "It wouldn't have mattered if it was here or Hermantown. This is going to happen regardless of the person. Lincoln Park is not a bad place," she said.

Formal charges were pending Tuesday against the suspects.
