CARLTON, Minn. -

Jay Cooke State Park helped commemorate the 125th anniversary of Minnesota State Parks and trails with a free event Sunday.

Sharing Community Picnic Gathering was co-hosted with the Fond du Lac Tribe of Lake Superior Chippewa. The event included drumming, archery, and moccasin and bead work demonstrations.

"They have come to showcase some of their resources and their knowledge and we’re sharing what we know about the park as well and hoping to educate our park visitors," said Kristine Hiller, Jay Cooke State Park Naturalist.
