SUPERIOR, Wis. -

Wisconsin Cabinet Secretaries have been visiting Northwestern Wisconsin for a few days to talk about what’s going on in the state, and to get input from local people and businesses.

The Secretary of the Department of Revenue was in Superior to discuss how they are working to reduce the tax burden in the state, and asking community members what they would like to see changed with the tax system in the future.

"There’s a lot of good news in this state. The unemployment rate is well below the national average, our labor force participation rate is high meaning there’s a lot of people who want to work who are working, the state’s budget is balanced, the debt load is under control,” said Secretary Richard Chandler.

The secretary says one thing they hear from businesses across the state is that there’s a need for skilled workers, so the administration is working on developing workforce training initiatives to address the issue.

The Unemployment rate of Wisconsin is 4.2 percent, compared to the national average of 4.9 percent.
