DULUTH, Minn. -

Duluth Edison Charter Schools held their first day of school.

North Star and Raleigh Academies opened the year with a record enrollment of near 1,400 students.

Administration staff started working three weeks ago to get everything ready for the big day.

"The first day is great. It's bustling with kids, staff are excited, the buildings are nice and shiny. It's just been a great day," said Primary Academy Director Tammy Rackliffe.

This is Edison's 19th year in Duluth.
