VIRGINIA, Minn. -

Officials from all around Virginia, Minnesota are fundraising to repair the Olcott park fountain.

The total fundraising goal for the project is $400,000 but the reconstruction is separated into multiple phases.

During the first phase, the fountain will be restored to its original form with various water sprays and colored lighting. Landscaping will be the second phase.

Greg Gilness, the Committee Chair of Fountain Restoration, said "We hope to have people use this spot for any occasion. We just had a wedding even though it is not in the best condition its an attraction and we want to make it even more so."

Community members say they are excited to get it up and running because the fountain has not operated since 2013.
